The Chamber was established in 1911 to serve as a collective voice for the local business community, and over the years, we have grown to become a vital resource for businesses of all sizes and industries. Our membership is made up of a diverse group of businesses, from small startups to large corporations, and we are proud to represent the interests of our members to policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders.

Leadership Roles

Discover the driving force behind our business community — our dedicated Committee that serves as the leadership team of the Chamber of Commerce.

Comprising roles essential for the organisation’s governance, each role plays a critical part in fostering economic development, nurturing local businesses, and strengthening community relationships.

President

The President serves as the chief officer of the Chamber, providing overall leadership and strategic direction. Responsible for overseeing all Committee activities, the President ensures that actions and initiatives align with the Chamber’s mission and goals.

Vice President

The Vice President acts as a secondary leader, stepping in when the President is unable to fulfil their duties. This role focuses on supporting various sub-committees and aiding in community outreach to ensure the Chamber’s initiatives are closely aligned with the needs of local businesses and residents.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for all financial oversight of the Chamber. This includes budget planning, financial reporting, and audit coordination. Their role ensures fiscal responsibility and the effective use of Chamber funds for the benefit of the community.

Secretary

The Secretary is essential for the governance and organization of the Committee. Responsibilities include taking meeting minutes, maintaining records, and handling official correspondence. The Secretary ensures that all Committee members have the necessary information to make informed decisions.

General Committee Member

Committee Members serve various functions within the Chamber, typically leading or participating in sub-committees focused on particular areas like events, policy, or membership. These members bring their industry-specific knowledge to the table, enriching the Chamber’s strategies and actions.
